The Series 1300 Sliding Window

SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL: Double-hung windows shall be Coastal thermally improved Series 1300 manufactured by Coastal Industries Inc. and shall meet AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-11,NAFS 2011 –North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for Windows, Doors, and Skylights. Class CW-PG30 1422 x 2324 (56 x 91 1/2)-H

MATERIAL: All aluminum extrusions shall be 6063-T5 alloy having a nominal wall thickness of .062”, sill shall be .078”; insulation when required shall be provided by a poured-in-place polyurethane specially formulated for this purpose. Parting stops shall be black rigid vinyl extrusions. Sections shall be designed to provide complete thermal break in both frames and sash.

CONSTRUCTION: Frame shall be 3 1/4” in depth. Corners shall be butt joint construction and mechanically joined with screws. Sash members shall be designed to accommodate 7/8” sealed insulating glass. Sash corners shall be of a semi-lap type mechanically joined with stainless steel screws at each corner.

HARDWARE: Moving sash shall be equipped with two spiral balances with nylon swivel shoes. The moving sash shall have an automatic spring-action latch at top of top sash and two latches at bottom of bottom sash. All fasteners shall be aluminum, stainless steel or non-corrosive material.

WEATHERSTRIPPING: Sash and frame shall be double weatherstripped using Fin-seal or Poly-bond with flexible vinyls as required.

GLAZING: Series 1300 shall be glazed with 7/8” sealed insulating glass using wrap-around vinyl of the marine type.

SCREENS: Screens shall have extruded aluminum frames with charcoal fiberglass cloth. Half-screen is standard, full screen is available.

FINISH: Standard finish shall be baked acrylic enamel paint in either WHITE or QUAKER BRONZE.

INSTALLATION: (BY OTHERS) All windows shall be installed without racking, binding, forcing or distorting of frames or sash. Sill shall be level and jambs plumb. All caulking shall be sufficient to provide a water tight perimeter seal. It shall not be the responsibility of the manufacturer to insure against faulty or improper installation.

S/1300 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (replacement)

  1. Remove inside stops or window bands.
  2. Remove lower sash
  3. Remove parting bead.
  4. Remove upper sash.
  5. Remove pulleys or sash balances. Stuff cavity with insulation.
  6. Caulk around frame overlap head an sides.
  7. Install bottom expander on sill, leaving 1/16” between outer frame and expander.
  8. Put window into position with outer leg of sill outside bottom expander.
  9. Install 1 x 8 screws inside frames.
  10. Push up top expander channel and anchor with 2 – 1/2 x 6 screws. 11. Replace window bands.
